Project Background
This project was initiated by the Goethe Institute Johannesburg and was commissioned as a Pan African Script Writing Project for young filmmakers living and working in Africa. The conceptualisation and writing process took about two years. We wanted to tell a story that dealt with reconciliation as healing process. The theme of torture was born, and the film began to find form and direction. By personalising the issues through the characters’ stories, we were able to create a robust film that resonates with the emotional realities of trying to overcome the traumas of our past. |
